Blue Star Museums offer active duty military families free admission

I was standing in line to get some tickets at a local movie theater when I heard the man in front of me ask about a military discount. While he waited for his tickets, I asked him if he had ever heard of Blue Star Museums. He hadn't, so I explained that there were hundreds of museums across the country he could visit for free with an active military ID.

Blue Star Museums is a great program for active duty military families. Here's how the website describes the program, "The 2013 season of Blue Star Museums is off to a fantastic start with more than 2,000 art centers, museums, and exhibits offering FREE entrance for all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Blue Star Museums is a partnership among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Joining Forces, MetLife Foundation and museums across the country."

You'll find big names like the Art Institute of Chicago and smaller museums like the Aurora Fire Museum or the Prairie Aviation Museum in Bloomington. For a complete list of museums in every state, visit http://www.bluestarfam.org/Programs/Blue_Star_Museums. For more information about Blue Star programs, visit http://www.bluestarfam.org/.
