Accused Drunken Driver Tested During Speeding Stop

Palos Heights DUI report, Oct. 4

A speedy driver from Palos Heights failed sobriety tests during a recent traffic stop, according to a report.

Michael C. Haverty, 25, of the 12600 block of South Parkside, Palos Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to Palos Heights police.

Cops stopped Haverty at about 3:25 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the 12500 block of South Harlem Avenue for speeding, the report states. After speaking with the driver, police noticed signs that he had been drinking.

Haverty failed tests for sobriety he was asked to perform, the report states. He was arrested and booked at the Palos Heights Police Department. The driver was later released on $1,000 bond.

Haverty is due on Oct. 22 in Bridgeview court.
