Suspect from 3-Year-Old Armed Robbery Captured in Virginia

Police say Jerry R. Wyatt, 53, drew a knife on a tanning salon employee during a robbery in April 2010. He was arrested on Wednesday in Virginia.

A witness who didn't speak with police last year has helped officers hunt down a suspect in a three-year-old Palos Heights armed robbery case. This week, police captured Jerry R. Wyatt, who is suspected in the April 2010 robbery of the Totally Tan Salon on Harlem Avenue, police said. Wyatt, 53, is accused of pulling a knife on a female employee of the tanning salon and grabbing cash from the drawer. Palos Heights detectives and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office secured an arrest warrant earlier this week after evidence found at the salon and interviews with witnesses pointed to Wyatt as a suspect, police said. Dicharo, 27, of the 7000 block of West 100th Street in Chicago Ridge, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and following too closely, according to a police report. Police stopped Dicharo at 3:36 a.m. near 12700 S. Harlem Ave., for following too closely and discovered during the traffic stop that he allegedly showed signs of drinking. Wells, 44, of 200 block of Douglas Way, Bolingbrook, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, speeding and improper lane use, according to a police report. Wells was reportedly stopped for improper lane use and speeding. An officer allegedly observed signs that the driver had been drinking. Car Stolen from Palos Heights Driveway

A car parked in a driveway on McIntosh Drive disappeared overnight, police said.

This is a great reason to lock your cars at night and, if you can, park them in a garage. A car parked in a driveway in the 7700 block of McIntosh Drive was reported stolen, according to a Palos Heights police report. The victim told police that the car was left at about 8 p.m. on Feb. 25. By the next morning, the car was gone without a trace. It is believed the car was taken sometime between 8 p.m., Feb. 25, and 10 a.m., Feb. 26. A description of the vehicle wasn't provided by Palos Heights police. Angela J. Moller, 33, of the 5900 block of West 124th Street, Alsip, was charged with two counts of DUI and failing to give insurance information after a crash.

An Alsip woman allegedly had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when she drove through multiple mailboxes, an AT&T utility box and fire hydrant, police said. Angela J. Moller, 33, of the 5900 block of West 124th Street, Alsip, was charged Feb. 12 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, failing to provide information after hitting a parked vehicle and driving without insurance, according to a Palos Heights police report. More Home Burglaries Reported in Palos Heights

Police issued a community alert for three incidents that have hit houses in town since Dec. 12.

Residents have reported three separate home burglaries since December, police said this week. Burglars forced their way in through back doors, stealing jewelry from people's bedrooms, according to a community alert posted to the City of Palos Heights website. “We’re just trying to make people aware that if they do see anything out of the ordinary, to look out for themselves and for their neighbors," said Palos Heights Deputy Chief Dave Delany. SATURDAY, DEC. 22 Josue Herrerea, 22, of the 100 block of Bayview Court in Steger, was charged with driving without a license, improper lane use, driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, according to a police report. Herrerea's vehicle was stopped at about 2:31 a.m. near 12800 S. Harlem Avenue for a lane violation. Officers said the driver had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a smell of alcohol on his breath.
