Sunday marked a long-awaited milestone for Palos Community Hospital as 120 patients were moved from the existing hospital to the Hospitaller Pavilion.

The Hospitaller Pavilion has something new for the south suburbs.
Palos Community Hospital is introducing its recently completed, new surgical and patient pavilion. The Hospitaller Pavilion offers private patient rooms, advanced surgical suites and a more "soothing and therapeutic healing environment for patients," according to a release from the hospital. The state-of-the-art addition also is designed to give physicians and staff a more efficient facility. Carol Stefen on PHTV Channel 4 spoke with Tim Brosnan of Palos Hospital about the new Pavilion. Police say no initial indication that alcohol was involved with the crash that also included people from Tinley, Lemont and Mokena.
A Frankfort girl died from injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Orland Park Friday night, while another teen was injured but later released from care. Julie Gorczynski, 17, of Frankfort was pronounced dead after being taken to Palos Community Hospital. A 17-year-old girl from Mokena was driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee in which Gorczynski was riding at the time of the crash, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was later released after being treated. Gorczynski graduated from Lincoln-Way North High School this year. She would have turned 18 on June 16. At least three Orland Fire Protection District vehicles responded to the crash at 135th Street and 88th Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Friday night. According to scanner …

Drug Possession David M. Tieman, 19, of the 5200 block of 121st Street in Alsip, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seat belt. Police said they stopped Tieman’s car in the 12100 block of Ridgeland Avenue around 10:50 a.m. for not wearing a seat belt and found marijuana and a glass smoking pipe. DUI Jay T. Ferrin, 33, of the 10500 block of Kedvale Avenue in Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding. Police said they stopped Ferrin’s car in the 12600 block of Harlem Avenue around 8:40 p.m. in connection with speeding.
