Looking Forward to the Cal-Sag Trail Link Up?

More than $3 million in federal money is going toward the Calumet-Sag Trail project. The completed trail will link 14 communities.

Cal-Sag Trail, a 33-mile trail which is expected to impact Palos Heights, Palos Park and Alsip, recently was awarded $3.6 million in federal money. The Chicago Tribune reports that the funding will pay for segments between Route 83 and 104th Avenue and 104th and 86th avenues. Construction on the trail is scheduled to start this year. Work done for the trail in the later half of 2012 was being accomplished behind the scenes. Palos Patch reported on the project moving head with paperwork needed to bid out the project in August. I'm so happy to hear of the progress, especially at a time when there are so many pressing financial issues facing the state and many of our cities. I hope the powers at be will open ends of the trail for business, i.e., bicycle rental, small restaurants with outdoor tables...   more ›
