Judge Refuses Bond Hike For Man Who Reportedly Referenced Newtown School Massacre

A Cook County judge denied prosecutors' motion to raise the bond for 31-year-old Matthew Lynch, charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after he allegedly made threats and referenced the Newtown, CN, school shooting during a DUI arrest.

A Cook County judge refused to raise the bond for a man who reportedly threatened police and referenced the Newton, Conn. school shooting just days after the massacre. Judge Patrick T. Rogers did impose special conditions of 31-year-old Matthew Lynch's I-bond — which didn't require Lynch to post anything to get out of jail — during a hearing on Tuesday. Rogers said Lynch must surrender any firearms, his FOID card and his passport. Lynch must also stay with his sister for the duration of the case and there may not be any firearms allowed in her home either, Rogers ruled. No Other Threats at Home of Man Who Referenced School Massacre: Police

Palos area schools will remain under a soft lockdown for the rest of the week.

Police are continuing to investigate a Palos Hills man who allegedly threatened to harm children and referenced the Newtown, CT, elementary school shooting while drunk. Michael L. Lynch, 31, was hospitalized after his arrest on Monday. He is charged with driving under the influence and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. Police notified Palos Hills schools of the alleged threats. Area schools were already on soft lockdown as police search for two bank robbers who broke out of a Chicago jail and had reportedly traveled to Tinley Park. Schools are expected to remain at this heightened level of security for the rest of the week. Palos Hills officers confiscated guns and ammunition from Lynch's home, police said.
