St. Al's 'Impromptu Dance' Rocks Orland Square Mall

St. Alexander School students recently showed their spirit as they try for a grant from Clorox. So did Rev. Martin Michniewicz, pastor of St. Alexander Church in Palos Heights, who put on a Clorox costume Monday.

St. Alexander School, located in Palos Heights, moved into 5th place for a grant contest sponsored by Clorox. The school has a shot at $50,000. Students performed an "impromptu dance" over the weekend at the Orland Square Mall to draw attention to their participation in the contest. Rev. Martin Michniewicz, pastor of St. Alexander Church, joined in, too. He donned a Clorox costume on Monday and waved to parents picking up their children. Want to help out the school? St. Al's Jumps to 9th Place in Grant Competition

The school wants to win $50,000 and it needs your help.

St. Alexander School is climbing the rankings. The Catholic grade school in Palos Heights moved to 9th place in a grant competition against schools across the country, sponsored by Clorox. Students spent a few minutes Friday afternoon getting excited about grant money the school is after.

St. Alexander School has moved into 15th place for a grant competition after it held a pep rally in Palos Heights on Friday. St. Alexander School Eyes Prize in Clorox Grant Competition

The Catholic elementary school is holding a pep rally Friday to pump up the school. They're competing for grant money against schools across the country.

Students, staff and teachers at St. Alexander are gathering together today for a schoolwide pep rally. But the Catholic elementary school in Palos Heights isn't "pepping" up for a test of athletics or to rally behind a sports team. The school is competing against about 2,500 other schools for up to $50,000 in grant money from Power A Bright Future, sponsored by Clorox. Currently, St. Alexander is in 16th place and the school working hard to climb the ranks. Less three weeks are left in the competition. Voting closes Dec. 19.
