Does Palos Heights Need a New Rec Center?

One alderman thinks the city would welcome one.

A Palos Heights alderman is asking the city's Parks and Recreation committee to look into the possibility of building a new fitness center. Michael McGrogan, an alderman for the 4th Ward, said the current favorable bond rates for construction projects, which had come up in discussion of library construction, make for an ideal time to build a center. He talked about a comprehensive fitness center at a recent City Council meeting. "This would be a complete rec center that you could actually have people working out (at)," McGrogan said. I think a nice 24 hour fitness or Lifetime fitness on 83/Harlem would be better.Those who want it can pay for it then, not every taxpayer. Just a thought. Or why can't Palos Hospital build a nice fitness center like they have way out there in Orland?   more ›

SUV Crashes into Palos Heights Rec Building

The rec center will stay open, according to a report.

A Lemont man was hospitalized as a precaution Monday morning after his SUV smashed through the Palos Heights Recreation Department building on 127th Street. The recreation center will stay open despite the damage, Sun-Times Media reports. Police and firefighters were on scene at about 9 a.m. The SUV when it crashed through a brick wall near one corner of the building. No one was inside the room when the accident happened. Get Spinning: Heights Rec Center Offers Classes

PHTV takes you to the Palos Heights Recreation Center and hops in on a spinning class.

The Palos Heights Recreation Center has been expanding its exercise class offerings of late. The newest edition is spinning glasses.  The fine folks at Palos Heights Channel 4 stopped by for a demonstration of the new gear.
