Cart Full of Detergent & Toilet Paper Stolen from Grocery Store: Blotter

Palos Heights police reports, April 6-9.

TUESDAY, APRIL 9 Lorreen L. Cure, 37, of the 7900 block of West 81st Street in Bridgeview, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. She is accused of taking a cart full of laundry detergent and toilet paper at about 11:15 a.m. from Dominick's, 6401 W. 127th St., and leaving without paying. She is due in Bridgeview court on May 9. MONDAY, MARCH 25 Jamie A. Michalowski, 20, of the 14300 block of South 85th Avenue in Orland Park, was charged with underage drinking and speeding, according to a report. SATURDAY, MARCH 30 Steven Molina, 26, of the 11200 block of South Pacific Drive in Worth, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, improper lane use and driving without insurance, according to a report. A vehicle was stopped for improper lane use at about 2:41 a.m. near 12100 S. Harlem Ave. Police determined that the driver, Molina, was under the influence of alcohol. Former Christian High School Teacher Accused of Having Sex with Students (Update)

Kenneth Martin, 34, of Chicago, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Authorities allege Martin, who is a former teacher at Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights, had an inappropriate relationship with two of his students.

Updated 6:24 p.m. April 2 Authorities have confirmed that Kenneth Martin, who is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, is no longer a teacher at Southwest Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights. He is accused of having a sexual relationship with two students starting in 2009. Martin stopped being a teacher in the summer of 2009, Palos Heights police said. Officials from Southwest Christian School released a statement Tuesday: "As soon as school officials became aware of this allegation against our former employee, the matter was reported to the authorities and we have been cooperating with the investigation. Palos Heights police reports, March 13-17.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17 Michael W. Wnuk, 20, of the 7200 block of South Banks Street in Justice, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving with a suspended license, improper lane use and speeding, according to a report. Wnuk was stopped for speeding and improper lane use at about 6:34 a.m. near 12200 S. Harlem Ave. Police smelled an odor of alcohol and noticed the driver had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Car Stolen from Palos Heights Driveway

A car parked in a driveway on McIntosh Drive disappeared overnight, police said.

This is a great reason to lock your cars at night and, if you can, park them in a garage. A car parked in a driveway in the 7700 block of McIntosh Drive was reported stolen, according to a Palos Heights police report. The victim told police that the car was left at about 8 p.m. on Feb. 25. By the next morning, the car was gone without a trace. It is believed the car was taken sometime between 8 p.m., Feb. 25, and 10 a.m., Feb. 26. A description of the vehicle wasn't provided by Palos Heights police. Driver Smashed into Mailboxes, Fire Hydrant & Parked Car: Police

Angela J. Moller, 33, of the 5900 block of West 124th Street, Alsip, was charged with two counts of DUI and failing to give insurance information after a crash.

An Alsip woman allegedly had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when she drove through multiple mailboxes, an AT&T utility box and fire hydrant, police said. Angela J. Moller, 33, of the 5900 block of West 124th Street, Alsip, was charged Feb. 12 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, failing to provide information after hitting a parked vehicle and driving without insurance, according to a Palos Heights police report. SATURDAY, FEB. 2 Hassan A. Kurdi, 23, of the 9100 block of Crescent Court in Oak Lawn, was charged with driving without insurance, speeding and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Investigating officers allegedly found Kurdi to be under the influence of alcohol. He later took a breathalyzer test, which showed a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08. WEDNESDAY, JAN. 30 Robert J. Marion, 18, of the 6900 block of West 113th Place in Worth, was charged with possession of marijuana, according to a police report. More Home Burglaries Reported in Palos Heights

Police issued a community alert for three incidents that have hit houses in town since Dec. 12.

Residents have reported three separate home burglaries since December, police said this week. Burglars forced their way in through back doors, stealing jewelry from people's bedrooms, according to a community alert posted to the City of Palos Heights website. “We’re just trying to make people aware that if they do see anything out of the ordinary, to look out for themselves and for their neighbors," said Palos Heights Deputy Chief Dave Delany. Driver Ticketed in T-Bone Crash Wednesday Morning

Police said the drivers from both cars involved in an early Wednesday morning crash were released from Palos Community Hospital and didn't suffer any serious injuries.

An 18-year-old driver has been ticketed her pickup truck flipped in a crash early Wednesday morning. Both her and another woman in a different car were taken to Palos Community Hospital as a precaution, according to Palos Heights police. Neither driver involved in the wreck that happened at 6:49 a.m. in the intersection of Route 83 and Harlem Avenue was seriously hurt. The pickup driver made a left-hand turn from Route 83 onto Harlem during a yellow light when the other driver smashed into her passenger side, causing the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac to flip nearly completely over, according to police.
