Driver Accused of Hitting Mailboxes Charged with DUI: Blotter

Palos Heights police reports, May 9-10.

FRIDAY, MAY 10 Donald A. Durkovic, 38, of the first block of Cour Montreal, Palos Hills, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and speeding, according to a report. Police stopped Durkovic at about 12:29 a.m. in the 12100 block of South Harlem Avenue for allegedly speeding. Police said Durkovic showed signs that he had been drinking, according to the report. Palos Heights Woman Throws Bottle During Argument: Blotter

Palos Heights police reports, May 5-6.

MONDAY, MAY 6 Helena J. Pena, 19, of the 300 block of West 65th Street, Burr Ridge, was charged with zero tolerance, illegal screeching of tires, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without proof of insurance, according to a report. Police stopped Pena in the 7900 block of West College Drive when her vehicle screeched its tires. An officer speaking with the driver found her to be under the age of 21 and that she had been drinking. Police also discovered drug paraphernalia. She is due on June 26 in Bridgeview court. SUNDAY, MAY 5 Timothy J. Avant, 32, of the 14800 block of Woodlawn Avenue, Dolton, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 and stopping in the roadway, according to a report. Police were called at about 11:23 p.m. to the 12100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue for a report of a possibly drunken driver. THURSDAY, APRIL 25 Jeaneen W. Zayed, 21, of the 7800 block of West 100th Place, Palos Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, according to a report. Passenger Allegedly Found with Hydrocodone During Traffic Stop: Blotter

Palos Heights police reports, April 27-28.

SUNDAY, APRIL 28 James W. Miller, 54, of the 9100 block of South Moody Avenue, Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without insurance and driving without a rear registration plate light, according to a report. Miller's car was stopped at about 3:40 a.m. near the intersection of Edgewood Road and 70th Avenue for an equipment violation. An investigation determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and could not provide proof of insurance. Miller also submitted to a breath test. Drop Off Expired or Unused Medicine Saturday

Orland Park, Orland Hills and Palos Heights police departments, as well as several other locations, will be destinations Saturday for those who want to safely dispose of medicine they no longer use or need. Find out the details.

Law enforcement agencies all over the country are looking to collect clamp down on one of the most plentiful sources of potentially dangerous drugs – your medicine cabinet. The Orland Park Police Department is taking part in the National Take Back Initiative, organized in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Palos Heights Woman Harassed Man Since 1998: Police

Taghreed Abusharif, 48, is charged with stalking. She was arrested on Tuesday after an investigation by Palos Heights police.

A 48-year-old Palos Heights woman with a history of harassment continued to stalk a man even after prior arrests, police said. Taghreed Abusharif, 48, of the 12600 block of south Massasoit, is charged with stalking, according to Palos Heights police. She was arrested Tuesday. A Fifth District court judge set bail at $500,000 on Wednesday for Abusharif. Abusharif met the Palos Heights man in 1998 and started behaving in a way that alarmed him, police said. Abusharif has been arrested four times since that first contact. She was charged with trespassing three times in Palos Heights and with telephone harassment by authorities in Oak Lawn, where the man runs a business.
