A newly constructed Jewel-Osco will open Thursday morning in Palos Heights behind the old building on 127th Street and Harlem Avenue. Patch gives you a look inside before the Grand Opening.

Palos Heights welcomes a newly built Jewel-Osco to town Thursday morning.  Opening at 6 a.m. on June 28, the new store will feature more space, an increased deli section and a more open layout.  Read:New Jewel-Osco to Open This Thursday  Gayle Richtsteig, the store director, is busy with her staff preparing for the big opening. "I think the customers are going to love it," she said. "They have been telling us at the old store how excited they are." Associates will be wearing new uniforms and guiding customers through the new products during the opening. Self check outs are rediculous and they do take the place of a working soul. They are impersonal and more time consuming . We are spoiled. It is ok to wait in line. You get to see what everyone is purchasing. I am a people watcher and I enjoy watching how people interact with one another.   more ›

New Jewel-Osco to Open This Thursday

After years of planning and building, the new Jewel-Osco in Palos Heights will open its doors for business Thursday, June 28. Read about all the shiny new details.

Out with the old, in with the new.  The new Jewel-Osco, 12803 S. Harlem Avenue, will open its doors at 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 28. The old store, which will be torn down in the coming months, closes for good at 6 p.m. Wednesday.  The new location is more than 50,000 square feet and will boast a number of new features that the old location was lacking.   A Wendy's restaurant will begin construction after the original 45-year-old building is demolished.  Patch will be given a tour of the new store Wednesday afternoon, look for pictures later today.  The new Jewel will also contain a TCF Bank branch and a drive-up kiosk will also be added for those filling prescriptions.  Other features of the new store include: Update: Take a look at our …
