Township Elections: Slates Take up Palos and Worth Races

Four trustee seats in Palos Township are contested. Worth Township will see competition between two slates for seats.

Slates of candidates from local parties will dominate the upcoming April ballots for Palos and Worth townships. In Palos Township, Republicans will face off with representatives from the Palos Unified Party for four trustee seats. For Worth Township, the United Party of Worth Township and the Worth Township Community First Party have a slew of candidates seeking seats. Higher Learning: Moraine Valley BOT Seats on April Ballot

Four seats are up, including three full terms and one unexpired, 2-year term.

The past year for Moraine Valley Community College has been one of interesting developments. Sylvia Jenkins, the Palos Hills-based college's new president, spoke about developing it as a place welcoming to everyone. She talked with Sun-Times Media about ways to improve the college in the coming months and years. Moraine Valley serves 26 communities in south suburbs. One area which likely will be seen as an improvement to the campus sprouted in December. Construction began on a Health Wellness and Education Center, which is modeled after similar facilities at two universities. It's expected to be completed by 2014. Who is Running for Office in Palos Heights?

Incumbents are expected to make up most of the ballot for the City of Palos Heights.

Palos Heights voters will see a lot of familiar names on the April 9 ballot. Only one seat during this round of municipal elections will have a new face. Alderman Jeff Prestinario is not seeking reelection for this 1st Ward position. Donald Bylut, who previously ran against Prestinario for the aldermanic spot, is the only candidate to file for that race. One position in each of the city's four wards is up this election cycle.
