Photo Gallery: Friends Walk to Honor Patrick Mizwicki

A group of classmates gathered to honor the memory of Patrick Mizwicki, 14, who was fatally struck by a car last Thursday.

A week after Patrick Mizwicki, 14, of New Lenox, was fatally struck by a car while running at a cross country team practice, classmates gathered to complete his run. The event brought out dozens of Lincoln-Way East students who linked arms as they recreated Mizwicki's run. Flowers and balloons marked the interestion of 104th Avenue and Route 83 in Palos Township where Mizwicki was hit. Organized by classmates Nathan Drewes and Zach Soltis over Facebook, the walk was a chance to reflect on the life of a friend. "Everybody just loved him," said Julie Gage. "I know it sounds cliche to say, but it is so true."
