Two jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Arizona and Missouri, but two Illinois winners also received a lovely holiday gift.
By now, it's widely known that the winning Powerball tickets from Wednesday's $550 million drawing were sold in Arizona and Missouri. Those winning tickets matched all five numbers and the Powerball number. Each winner will receive about $293.7 million. However, right here in Illinois, two ticket holders matched all five numbers as well (not the Powerball number) and will receive $1 million each. Those tickets were sold at Casey's General Store in Fairmont and Barts Supermarket in Flanagan, according to the Illinois Lottery results page. The winning numbers are 5, 23, 16, 22, 29, 6. Tickets were selling at a rate of 130,000 a minute nationwide on Wednesday, according to CBS News. Join the conversation. Like Palos Patch on Facebook and sign…

Since the last drawing on Nov. 24, the Powerball jackpot has grown by over $100 million to a record $550 million. The estimated cash payout is $360.2 million. The last set of winning numbers was drawn on Oct. 16. The Winning Numbers are: 5, 23, 16, 22, 29 Powerball: 6
Illinois lottery ticket sales are expected to sell even faster in advance of Wednesday's $500 million Powerball Jackpot Lottery drawing.
The Illinois Lottery's Powerball jackpot is set to reach $500 million, and the tickets are selling at a "blistering" pace, according to the Chicago Tribune. About $200,000 in lottery tickets were sold in just one 30-minute period Tuesday, according to the Trib, and sales are expected to peak as the Powerball drawing draws closer. It's the largest jackpot in Powerball history. The winners would take home $327.4 million in a lump sum. No one has won the Powerball drawing in two months, and the jackpot continued to rise after strong sales, according to the Trib. Powerball is a national lottery including 42 states.
