House Burns While Palos Park Couple is Out of Town

Fire officials believe a Wednesday morning fire started in the garage of a home at the intersection of 123rd Street and Mohawk Road.

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Palos Park. Fire officials say the blaze started somewhere near or in the garage of a home at the intersection of 123rd Street and Mohawk Road. It spread to the attic and was heavily involved when fire crews arrived around 10:30 a.m. at the one-story home. No one was home when the fire ignited, said Cpt. Jim Graben of the Palos Fire Protection District. The older couple who lives at the house was out of town, according to Graban. A passerby called 911 after seeing smoke and fire coming from the house. Fire investigators did not have a damage estimate Wednesday morning. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - There are plenty of ways to keep up on local news:

Blaze Leaves Palos Heights Home Unlivable

The Friday night fire was in the 6000 block of 128th Street.

A Friday night fire has left a Palos Heights home completely unlivable. The couple who lives at the burned house in the 6000 block of 128th Street wasn't home at the time the fire started. One neighbor who called 911 said she saw black smoke coming out of the chimney at first and then noticed smoke pouring out of the ceiling.
