Bail for Ralph Grajek, 46, was set at $200,000 on Wednesday. He is accused of striking a woman and ripping out a telephone line after pushing his way into the home.
An Orland Park man was charged Wednesday with home invasion after police said he forced his way into an unincorporated Palos Heights home. Ralph Grajek, 46, appeared in Bridgeview bond court Wednesday, according the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. His bail was set at $200,000. Grajek is accused of forcing his way into the house on 128th Street at around 12:45 a.m. Feb. 17, hitting a woman who was home several times in the face and ripping a telephone line out of the wall when she tried to call 911, police said. After fleeing in a black GMC Jimmy, Grajek was arrested several days later on Feb. 25 after a manhunt led police to Chicago Ridge, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Hearings continue in a Bridgeview courtroom for Sam Cafi, the 29-year-old Justice man of accused of reckless homicide in connection to DUI-related crash that killed a Darien man last March.
There is more evidence outstanding in the reckless homicide case against Sam Cafi, the Justice man charged with more than 100 felony counts in a fatal DUI, attorneys said during a Thursday hearing. Cafi, 29, pleaded not guilty in August and is out on a $1 million bond. He appeared in a suit and tie during the brief hearing in Cook County Judge John J. Hynes' court in Bridgeview. Palos Hills' police chief says heroin is entering the southwest suburbs at an 'alarming rate.'
Police have announced another arrest in what officials say is an ongoing investigation into the increased heroin use and number of overdoses in Palos Hills. Deividas Vizgaitis, 20, of Palos Park, was found with 12 individually wrapped packets of heroin during a traffic stop on Dec. 19, police said. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of cannabis. Vizgaitis’ arrest is the latest in an investigation by Palos Hills detectives over the past year, police said. Several people have overdosed on the drug, including one death. Join the conversation.
