A few Palos Heights aldermen are pondering a synthetic ice rink for Community Park. Relatively low cost and maintenance requirements and portability make bringing an all-season rink to Palos Heights an appealing prospect to some alderman, The Regional reports. A master plan for improvements to Community Park in Palos Heights was presented to the City Council on Tuesday.
It's been months in the making, but a final plan for improvements to Community Park was presented to the Palos Heights City Council on Tuesday. In a unanimous vote the council adopted the master plan created by Hitchcock Design Group. The long-term plan identifies numerous improvement projects for the park located at 7600 W. College Dr. The speed at which improvements will occur depends largely on whether the city is able to procure grants for the project and the specifics of year to year budgets. The plan could take anywhere from three to 10 years to implement, said Mike Leonard, director of parks and recreation. I should have said Southwest Ice Rink in Crestwood. I mean come on really and there is a rink in Orland Park too. They all have public skate times. It's not that hard to get to these places either.   more ›
