Two drivers in the crash from earlier this week weren't seriously hurt, according to police
Police said the drivers from both cars involved in an early Wednesday morning crash were released from Palos Community Hospital and didn't suffer any serious injuries.
An 18-year-old driver has been ticketed her pickup truck flipped in a crash early Wednesday morning. Both her and another woman in a different car were taken to Palos Community Hospital as a precaution, according to Palos Heights police. Neither driver involved in the wreck that happened at 6:49 a.m. in the intersection of Route 83 and Harlem Avenue was seriously hurt. The pickup driver made a left-hand turn from Route 83 onto Harlem during a yellow light when the other driver smashed into her passenger side, causing the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac to flip nearly completely over, according to police. A horse had to be put down after it bucked its rider and ran into traffic in rural Palos Hills.
A horse named Stella had to be euthanized after it ran into traffic and was struck by an SUV on Saturday. The crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Kean Avenue in rural Palos Hills, police said. A girl who had been riding Stella was bucked off when the horse become agitated by biting horse flies. The 14-year-old horse then took off without a rider toward the road. A 2012 Chevy Traverse traveling on Kean collided with the animal. The driver wasn't injured and no tickets were issued. Stella was taken to the University of Illinois in Champaign for emergency treatment but had to be put down. "We’ve never had anything like this happen before. An insurance company can assess the damage to a vehicle involved in the DUI accident that claimed the life of a nurse on her way to work, but the return of personal belongings of the Orland Park man charged with reckless homicide in connection with the crash will have to wait, a Cook County judge said Tuesday morning. Matthew Senica, 25, of the 13700 Block of 88th Ave. was also indicted Tuesday on 14 counts of aggravated DUI and one count of reckless homicide in Judge Peter Felice's Bridgeview courtroom. An elderly woman died several hours after a car accident in Palos Heights Tuesday afternoon, police said. Shirley Ronan, 81, of Oak Lawn, was turning onto eastbound 135th Street from Forest Ridge Drive around 2:30 p.m. when a car traveling westbound struck her on the driver's side door, Deputy Chief Dave Delaney said. Ronan was making a left turn, which is not allowed at that intersection, Delaney said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead about eight hours later, Delaney said. The 63-year-old Orland Park man who struck Delaney's vehicle was not cited in the crash. For the second time in less than a week a car has come crashing through a Palos Heights building. A 73-year-old woman crashed her SUV into an office building at 7800 West College Drive, leaving a gaping hole in a brick wall measuring six feet across. Like I said before. The elderly need to be more closely supervised as to weather they are abel to drive . Disorientated, come on she left the seen of a hit and run and made it home. She was not that mixed up. The elderly need to follow the same rules of the road that the rest of us do.That was a hit and run. Around 10 a.m. a car driven by an elderly woman crashed through the large window of the bakery at 12248 S. Harlem Avenue shattering glass and causing the walls of the bakery to shake. An SUV was upside down in the front yard of a Palos Heights home Tuesday evening after a two-car accident. Around 4:30 p.m. two cars collided at the intersection of 124th Street and 70th Avenue. The driver of the flipped car had to be cut out of her seat belt, witnesses said. A Nissan Murano and a later model BMW collided at the intersection without a stop sign. We are so grateful to learn that Mr. Larsen's wife is doing alright. My husband, Charlie, who was driving the BMW, sustained a fractured hand and abrasions but is recuperating well at home. We too are in favor of speed bumps and additional stop signs in this residential area of Old Palos. We can assure you we will be appearing before the City Council to make these recommendations.
