More Home Burglaries Reported in Palos Heights

Police issued a community alert for three incidents that have hit houses in town since Dec. 12.

Residents have reported three separate home burglaries since December, police said this week. Burglars forced their way in through back doors, stealing jewelry from people's bedrooms, according to a community alert posted to the City of Palos Heights website. “We’re just trying to make people aware that if they do see anything out of the ordinary, to look out for themselves and for their neighbors," said Palos Heights Deputy Chief Dave Delany. Lock Your Doors: Burglars Strike 2 Palos Park Homes in a Week

The daytime burglaries have police warning residents to keep their valuables safe.

A pair of daytime burglaries—the second coming midday Wednesday—have struck homes in the Village of Palos Park. Police say the two separate incidents have happened during daylight hours. In both cases, thieves pried their way into the homes and bolted with electronics and jewelry. No arrests have been reported connected to these recent crimes. Friend Palos Patch on Facebook. Charges Expected For Multi-Suburban Burglars

Suspects in custody but not yet charged for thefts in at least four communities

The Palos Hills Police Department, working in conjunction with a special task force, said that suspects that were caught Wednesday were responsible for a series of burglaries in south suburban towns. Deputy Chief James Boie did not provide further details Thursday afternoon and said no charges were filed yet but that they had the suspects of alleged burglaries in Palos Hills, Hickory Hills, Bridgeview and Burbank in custody. Boie said “a lot of work” needed to be done before the department could release information and was not sure when the information will be forthcoming.
