Brother Rice High School was proud to celebrate its 53rd commencement Thursday. Of the 222 students who graduated, they amassed some $10 million in scholarships. Sixty percent of the class over a four year period were on the honor roll and 92 percent were accepted to the first or second school of their choosing. President James Antos gave a rousing commencement address encouraging the young men to "act manly in Christ Jesus," the school's motto. As the ceremony was cut short by a premature hat-tossing, the grads were escorted out past their class purchase of an large orange inflatable character holding a cap in one hand and diploma in the other.
