Maureen Oleskiewicz, 28, of Orland Park, was remembered Tuesday night at Incarnation Catholic Church.
Update: Wednesday, May 8, 2013 Maureen Oleskiewicz died from choking on a hot dog while at a Chicago Cubs home game Sunday, according to a report by ABC 7. Oleskiewicz was sitting in the bleachers when she started choking around 12:55 p.m., according to the report. She was transferred by Wrigley Field staff and paramedics to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was later declared dead. Palos native Kevin Sanders spent five years working with the Plainfield Emergency Management Agency. A memorial in his honor will be held in Plainfield on Tuesday.
The story has been updated with photos and videos as Plainfield police, firefighters, members of PEMA and the Illinois State Police escorted Sanders to Overman-Jones Funeral Home in Plainfield on Saturday. Kevin Sanders dedicated his life to helping people and animals. “He died doing what he loved to do by serving and protecting others and will be forever remembered as a hero,” according to the obituary for Sanders, 33. A native of Palos Hills and former Plainfield resident, Sanders was among the first responders killed in an explosion as they battled a fire at fertilizer plant in West, Texas, near Waco on April 18. Long time Christ Hospital volunteer Rita C. “Ritzie” Schober died Monday. She was 86 years old.
Former South Sider Rita C. "Ritzie" Schober, nee Burns, passed away April 22 in Lake Geneva, WI. The former Southsider was the wife of the late Edward Schober. She is survived by her children: Raymond, Daniel, Lynda, David and Edward; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Schober is recalled as a loyal, long-time volutneer at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. “Rita was the first adult in the work world to want to be my friend. She was a sweet heart,” reads a comment posted on Schober’s obituary from Wood Dale resident Olga Colon Bartolomeo.
