Where To Recycle Your Junk This Weekend

Palos Heights and Palos Park are both holding upcoming electronic recycling events.

Junk. Everyone has it. Now thanks to upcoming recycling events those old dusty printers and rusty paint cans can find a new home where they can live happily ever after in repurposed bliss.

Palos Heights and Palos Park are both holding recycling events to take that clutter out of your hands.

When: Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m to 11 a.m.

Where: The parking lot of , 7402 Lake Katherine Drive in Palos Heights

The Details:

Paper Shredding -  Two boxes per person of documents to be shredded.  You will be allowed to wait to see your documents be shredded.

Electronic Recycling - Vintage Tech Recycling: Electronic goods, TVs, stereos, and computers.  Please do not bring microwaves, stoves or anything you cannot carry.  

Prescription Drugs - The will be on hand to dispose of expired drugs so they do not go into our waterways or landfills.

CFL light bulbs - will be accepting your used CFL light bulbs. Tubular bulbs will not be excepted.

Latex Paints - Earth Paints Collection Systems will collect cans of latex paints for a small fee. 

When: Saturdays, Aug. 20 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: , 8999 W. 123rd St. in Palos Park

The Details: The collection is sponsored by the Palos-Orland Conservation Committee and the Village of Palos Park. Vintage Tech Recyclers, an Illinois EPA certified company, will handle the recycling. A curbside drop-off system should keep traffic moving.

Wanted: Computers and parts, Monitors, Peripherals-Mice Keyboards, Printers, Fax machines, Scanners , PDAs, Cell Phones, Phones, TV’s, Laptops, DVDs, Stereos, VCRs, MP3 players, IPods and Video game consoles

Not Wanted: Kitchen appliances, Hair Dryers, Curling Irons, Terminals, Electric Tools, Cash registers, Microwave Ovens, UPS Batteries, Typewriters, Toaster ovens and Copiers
