Last Chance: You Can Still Volunteer at the Half Marathon

The Southwest Half Marathon is still open to volunteers who want to help out at one of the area's largest events.

This Sunday more than 2,000 runners will make their way through Palos Heights and Palos Park as part of the Southwest Half Marathon. 

The event draws thousands of athletes and supporters to the Palos area and serves as a showcase for everything your town has to offer. The event relies heavily on local volunteers and there are still a number of ways you can still get involved.

Some volunteer opportunities include:

  • Open, 5:30 a.m. to noon
  • Volunteer Check-in, 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Gear Check, 5:30am to noon
  • Directional/Greeters, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Registration Resolution, 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Course Marshals, 5:30am to noon
  • Water Stations, 5:30am to noon
  • Finish Line, 7am to 12pm
  • Refreshments, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Proceeds from this year's event will go to the American Cancer Society for Prostate Cancer and Research, the South West Special Recreation Association and .
