Road Closures for First Midwest Bank Half Marathon and 10K May 4

Take note and know your detours ahead of time.

Palos Park police are giving residents advance notice of road closures for this year's First Midwest Bank Half Marathon and 10K Run.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 4, on Route 83 between Harlem and Archer Avenues.  In order to ensure a safe environment for runners, Route 83 will be closed to all traffic on May 4, between roughly 6 and 11 a.m.

"We encourage you to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes during this timeframe," said Palos Park Police Commissioner Dan Polk in a press release.

Runners begin and finish in Palos Heights, but the route winds through Palos Park, as well. Possible alternatives to Route 83 would be 111th Street, 123rd Street, 131st Street, Rte 45, Harlem Avenue, and Ridgeland Avenue.

Residents of the Edelweiss subdivision, especially, might be stuck inside their homes the day of the race.
