Wrestling: Stagg's Moylan Wins 145-Pound State Championship

Stagg's Kevin Moylan capped a remarkable run by winning the 145-pound championship in the Class 3A state wrestling tournament on Saturday in Champaign.

Moylan defeated Bryce Brill of Chicago Mount Carmel 3-2 in an overtime tiebreaker to win the 145-pound championship at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament Saturday in Champaign.

The title for Moylan completed a season-long journey. He was intent on climbing to the top of the medal platform after placing second in the state tournament as a junior.

To reach the final, Moylan defeated old rival Colin Holler of Sandburg 10-8 in the semifinals. Moylan won two other matches by a combined score of 21-6.
