Stagg Charges to Head of the Pack

Crockett's two hits help Chargers tip Reavis, climb to No. 1 in Patch softball power rankings.

1. Stagg (12-0): Joey Crockett gets in on the Chargers’ winning act.  She connects for two hits, including a double, and scores one run in a 3-2 victory over Reavis. Lea LaSota struck out 12 to run her record to 11-0. And Victoria Dellorto delivered da goods again. She tripled and drove in two runs. Last week: No. 2.

2. Richards (9-0): Kallie Tobin does it all in the Bulldogs’ 20-5 five-inning victory over Crete-Monee. Tobin had four hits, including a double, and scored three runs. She also was the winning pitcher. Hannah Jenkins went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs. She connected for a solo homer. Last week: No. 4.

3. Lincoln-Way East (8-0): Griffins begin week with eye-opening 5-3 victory over Marist. Then, they end with Nicole Miskowicz and Lauren Benda playing lead roles in a 10-0 rout of Thornwood. Both had two RBIs. Benda scored three runs. Last week: No. 3.

4. Sandburg (6-3): Lexi Bryant went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs in the Eagles’ 10-3 win over Lincoln-Way West. Amanda Barna added three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Jori Boren (1-0) was the winning pitcher. She allowed five hits and struck out four. Last week: No. 1.

5. Oak Forest: (9-2): Emily Naegele provided the pop in the Bengals’ 6-1 victory over Lemont. She slugged a three-run homer. Samantha Bal drove in two runs, and Emily Norton battled through some uncharacteristic wildness with nine strikeouts. Last week: No. 5.
