Sports Video Highlight Reel: Prete's Good Effort Goes for Naught
Stagg struggle at the plate in a recent 3-2 baseball loss to Simeon and is unable to capitalize on Joe Prete's fine relief work.
Despite striking out nine opposing batters and giving up only four hits, the Stagg baseball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Simeon on Wednesday, March 30.
Simeon grabbed the first lead of the game by scoring on a passed ball in the top of the third inning, but Stagg responded in the bottom of the third with two runs of its own. Brad Clark drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Mike Rankin and Corey Chico crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Chargers starter Kyle Bell relinquished the lead by giving up two runs in the fourth. Joe Prete came in to strike out the final Wolverine batter of the inning with the bases loaded. Prete dominated the rest of the game, striking out four and only giving up one hit, but the Chargers couldn't put another run on the board.

Bell pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs while striking out four and walking four. Prete allowed only one hit while striking out five. At the plate, Clark was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Rankin went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Chico was 1-for-4.
For the game, Stagg batters struck out 10 times, drew five walks and left four runners in scoring position.
