Hot Shot: Chicago Christian Athlete of the Week in the Right 'Kamp'

Jeremy Kamp helped the Knights roll to a 20-1 scoring edge in their first two baseball victories.

Chicago Christian's Jeremy Kamp can do it all.

He splits his time between right field and on the mound. In two games at the plate, he has gone 2-for-6 with 2 RBIs and four runs scored. In his first pitching start, he threw a against Evergreen Park, giving up just one hit and one walk over five innings. He strcck out nine in an 11-0 Knight victory.

And he shrugged off a question of whether he felt any first-game pitching nerves.

“No," Kamp said. "With it being the first start of the season, I just figured not everyone’s on their game. I just wanted to go out there and challenge batters. I threw mostly fastballs and threw some curveballs in there. I figure, 'I’m a senior, I should be able to dominate.' ”

Kamp was sitting at 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00 heading in to this week. The senior plans to attend Calvin College (Mich.) next year.
