Football: Shepard Rolls Past Reavis as McClinton Accounts for 5 TDs

Shepard 50, Reavis 26: QB Jimmy McClinton ran in for three scores and threw for two more as the Astros crashed the Rams' homecoming party.

Breaking It Down: When broke the pregame huddle on the word "homewreckers," the tone was set for Saturday's game at Reavis. Shepard spoiled Reavis' homecoming festivities with a dominating 50-26 victory over the Rams. The game was tied at 7-all at the end of the first quarter, but after that, it was just about all Astros.

Shepard quarterback Jimmy McClinton was practically untouchable, accounting for five touchdowns on 237 total yards. His first TD scramble was for 55 yards. He ran in a pair of scores from a yard out, both in 4th-and-goal situations. McClinton also connected with Londell Lee for a 64-yard touchdown pass and found Martice Weatherspoon for a 3-yard score. McClinton and Weatherspoon connected on a two-point conversion attempt early in the third quarter to put the Astros up by three scores, at 36-20. Brandon Lucas added a 2-yard touchdown run and Adam Turwon ran in from 28 yards.

The score at the half was 28-14 Shepard, but the Astros posted 15 points in the third quarter to secure the victory. An incompletion on a fake punt by Reavis gave Shepard a very short field. The Astros also recovered an onside kick to lead to a score.

Offensively, Jimmy McClinton is improving and had a great game. He did a great job of making things happen and has come a long way. Defensively, we need to get better quick because Geiter (Eisenhower’s QB) is one of the best players in the conference and will be tough to contain."
