Family Football Affair: Father Relishes Son's Role at Shepard

Back in day, Dennis Woronicz was an offensive lineman at Reavis. Now his son, Max, plays at Shepard. And his parents are his biggest boosters.

It was homecoming Saturday at Reavis. Dennis Woronicz, a 1975 graduate of the school, wasn't there as a Reavis alum, but rather as the father of a member of the visiting Astros football team.

The Astros had their way against Woronicz's alma mater, notching a thanks to good blocking from Woronicz's son, Max, among others on the offensive line.

Max Woronicz is the starting center for the Astros football team and also lines up as a defensive end. He is a two-way player. His father is familiar with line duty. Back in the day, he was a nose guard and center for the Rams.

"Because I played the game, I know the how it feels to be out there," Dennis Woronicz said. "I get a lot of enjoyment watching the coaching and seeing the kids enjoy themselves."

Woronicz's wife, Theresa, can be seen on the Shepard sidelines taking pictures. The Woronicz family makes its home in Alsip. Dennis works as a mechanic and roots for the Astros.
