Extra Points: At Stagg, it's All About Having a Little Faith
After missing most of last season with an injury, the Chargers' Faith Johnson started off her senior season in style.
Stagg's Faith Johnson is starting off her senior season with something to prove--and she's starting off with a bang.
Johnson went 3-for-4 in the Chargers' 9-1 softball victory over Tinley Park on Wednesday. She singled, tripled and homered. Her homer boosted Stagg to a 2-0 lead in the fourth.
Johnson was inspired to give it her all after sitting out most of last season with a shoulder injury.

"Just coming back, I felt like I was supposed to be there," she said. "It's my first game in almost a year since my injury, so it felt good to hit the ball out."
Chargers' coach Missy Mason said Johnson's home run was the game-changer for Stagg.

"Everyone knew that as soon as the ball left her bat it was going out," Mason said. "It was great for Faith because she's put in so much effort to get herself ready for the season. She's still not 100 percent yet, but you wouldn't know that by looking at her. She always puts in 110 percent."
Johnson said she wants the Chargers to carry the momentum of their first-game triumph throughout the season.
"I want us to keep this same intensity and winning spirit that we had today," she said.
