Basketball Skills Training-A Success in Palos Hts.

Over 115 kids packed Trinity’s Mitchell Memorial Gym and Saint Alexander’s Gym on June 9th and 10th for a 2 day intense basketball skills training session run by nationally known basketball trainer, Ganon Baker and Mike Glennon, Palos Heights resident and certified skills trainer for Ganon Baker  Basketball. Parents travelled from Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois to expose their young basketball players to a unique three hour workout aimed at teaching the serious player drills to work themselves out at home to hone their skills and become better basketball players.

Coach Glennon spends hours in the gym running training sessions for teams as a lead skill trainer for Ganon Baker Basketball. He also trains players individually or in small groups in addition to volunteering his time as an asst. varsity coach for Reavis High School and head coach for several St. Alexander boys’ and girls’ teams in Palos Heights.

“From August to March, I’m basically in the gym every night, teaching kids,” said Glennon, an executive salesman and marketer for Centiv Services, LLC. “I had some great coaches when I was a kid. They helped me learn about life and taught me the game,” Glennon said. “It’s about teaching transferable skills, which is what playing sports, I believe, does. Being a part of a team, respecting your coach, being able to listen, learning how to react, being disciplined. Those are life skills that are required outside of basketball.”
