Despite Cold, Stagg Girls Soccer Heats Up

Tara Tarazoff's game-winner lifts Chargers in match vs. Minooka; Spencer Krivanec's scoring keeps Stagg water polo team on track, too.

Frigid conditions couldn't prevent Stagg's girls soccer team from extending its red-hot start.

The Chargers played through bone-chilling winds on Tuesday and Wednesday and earned a tie and a win against Lincoln-Way North (0-0) and Minooka (2-1). Tara Tarazoff scored the game-winner .

Stagg boasts a 2-0-2 record.

Spencer for Hire

Stagg's water polo team rolled to a 19-2 victory over Argo. Spencer Krivanec led all scorers with four goals. Four different Stagg goalies combined to shut dowbn the Argonauts' attack.

Shepard's softball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Oak Forest, 3-0. The Astros' game against Stagg was called off due to inclement weather. Here is how the Southtown-Star wrapped things up.

* Chicago Christian continues to maintain its winning ways in baseball. The Knights improved to 6-0 with victories over St Francis de Sales (13-6) and Shepard (5-3).

* Chicago Christian's softball team improved to 2-3 with a 7-5 victory over Westmont.

* Shepard and Chicago Christian met on the soccer field. The Knights beat the Astros 2-1 and took home "crosstown" bragging rights.

* Stagg alumnus Justin Ringo is 1-for-11 with a two-run homer representing his lone hit in 5 games with Stanford as of March 22, according to Stanford's baseball website.
