Clark, Trybula Spark Stagg's Baseball Burst

Chargers take 2-of-3 on diamond. Meanwhile, Chicago Christian finds success in the sunshine state.

Stagg finally caught a break in the weather and was able to get its baseball season started.

The Chargers headed to cross-own rival Shepard and took home an . Stagg then dropped a 3-2 decision to Simeon. Brad Clark had the lone RBI in the setback (the other run scored on an error).

The Chargers used a five-run fourth inning on Thursday to bounce to a 9-5 win over Bolingbrook. Jeff Trybula earned the save and silenced a Raider rally in the bottom of the seventh.

Astros Split in Softball

Shepard's softball team split two games with an 8-6 loss to T.F. South and a 5-1 win over Bremen. The Astros'  game on Thursday against Kankakee was cancelled.

Shepard Girls Top T.F. North

Shepard's girls soccer team split its games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday, the Astros suffered a 2-0 loss to Reavis. But, on Wednesday, the Astros bounced back to notch a 4-1 win over T.F. North. The Astros are 1-3.

Water Polo Update

The Stagg girls water polo team was in action against Richards Monday. The Chargers fell to 3-5 after a 20-3 loss to the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, the Stagg boys water polo team continues to rise. The Chargers started with an 8-0 run in a 18-8 victory over Lincoln-Way Central. Six players contributed goals for Stagg with Zach Golob leading the way with 5. Ryan DeAngelis and Drew Stoffel chipped in with four goals each.

Chicago Christian Basks in Sun

The Chicago Christian baseball team is enjoying the sun and warmth of Florida during the school's spring break. On Monday, the Knights defeated the Calvary Christian (Fla.), the fifth-ranked team in that state's Class 2A division, by a score of 2-0. On Tuesday, the Knights lost to Flagler Palm Coast (Fla.) 7-4.

Then, on Wednesday, Chicago Christian scored two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to beat First Baptist (S.C.), the two-time defending South Carolina state champions, by a score of 8-7.

The Shepard badminton team was in action on Wednesday and took an 8-7 loss to Zion Benton.
