Boys Basketball: Astros 'D' Up in Win over L-Way North

Shepard 51, Lincoln-Way North 40. Jarrett Foster leads the way in fourth quarter as Astros advance in Class 4A playoffs.

The Hot Read: Shepard overcame a miserable first-half of shooting to notch a 51-40 boys basketball victory over Lincoln-Way North in play on Monday at the Class 4A Lincoln-Way North Regional. The Astros suffered through an ice cold 4-for-27 shooting first half and trailed 16-11. Then, in the second half, Shepard had to overcome two five-point deficits. The Astros employed fullcourt pressure and were able to get the job done behind the huge second half of 6-2 senior forward Jarrett Foster. He scored 11 of his team-high 13 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. Shepard coach Tony Chiuccariello gave credit to his team’s defense for the victory. “We knew we had to force the tempo with our defense, and it finally started paying off in the fourth quarter when we got the lead back," he said.”
