Athlete of the Week: Golob Leads Charge into Postseason for Stagg Water Polo Team

Zach Golob scored 11 goals in Stagg's last two regular-sesaon games to earn 'bragging rights.'

Zach Golob has been a key player in a number of Stagg’s water polo wins  this season, and he secured his spot as the team's regular-season goals leader with 11 goals in the last two games alone.

Golob has been involved in a bit of a friendly competition with a fellow senior.

"Golob and (teammate Drew Stoffel) have been playing together since the summer before their freshman year,” Stagg coach Wes Gonzalez said. “They have a good chemistry. They are in a bit of a competition to see who will finish the season with the most goals.”

Golob won those bragging rights with his scoring surge—five goals against Lincoln-Way West and six against Bradley-Bourbonnais in the regular-season finale on Friday.
