World War II Exhibit at McCord Gallery & Cultural Center

WWII comes to life again at a limited-time exhibit at the McCord Center.

It's not often that we can step into history, but a limited-time exhibit at the McCord Gallery and Cultural Center takes residents back to World War II through an exhibition of privately-owned, museum-quality artifacts from World War II.

Visitors can learn of the turmoil and hardships of the years 1939 through 1945 as they view documents signed by FDR, Eisenhower, Truman, and Hitler, along with V-day letters and personal histories. Military vehicles, weapons, uniforms (American, German, British, and Japanese), and more will be on display. Also included will be one of two Angelus bells from the Urakami Church to survive a nuclear bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan in the last act of war to bring World War II to a close.

Admission is $12 for the public, $10 for members of McCord. Veterans, military,
students and children under 18 are free. The exhibit is open Wednesday, March 6 - Sunday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

The event will also include a lecture and reception with Dr. Ted Karamanski, followed by refreshments, Saturday, March 9th, 7-9:30 p.m. Admission is $50.
