Summerfest & Jazz in the Pines

Two fun family events are scheduled at The Center this weekend. Be sure to spend a little time at the farm for SummerFest and Jazzin in the Pines featuring the Darlene Baresch Quartet.

Two fun family events are scheduled this weekend at The Center. First up is the 24th annual SummerFest. This year's SummerFestis centered around a "Green Fair" of environmental organizations and vendors of environmentally-friendly products. Families can enjoy games, crafts, hay rides, animals, tours, food, live music and more. SummerFest is Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. - 4 a.m. Festival admission is $4 per adult and $2 per child.Sunday, June 3 is Jazz in the Pines, a wonderful free concert set in the pine woods on the north end of the farm. This is the twentieth annual outdoor spring jazz concert. Guests will enjoy the Darlene Baresch Quartet featuring Spencer Keys on keyboard, Tyke Hendershott on bass, Scott Gumina on saxophone and clarinet, Dean Minuth on percussion, and singer Darlene Baresch. To enjoy the concert, park at the farm and the hayrack will take you out to the concert. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Picnics are encouraged. The concert starts at 5:30 p.m. The Center is located at 12700 Southwest Highway in Palos Park. For more information call 708.361.3650.
