Local Art Gardens Offer Interest and Inspiration

Three area sculpture gardens offer beauty in the artworks displayed and the park settings.

There are three area sculpture gardens available for those seeking a new view for a casual walk or inspiration for their own artwork. The closest in in Palos Heights. The Art Gardens of Palos Heights is a community gathering places. Permanent and temporary sculptures and exhibits in an eco-friendly garden setting. Professional artists and students from Palos School District 118 are all represented. The Art Gardens of Palos Heights is located at 123rd & 72nd Court, just one block west of Harlem Avenue, across from the fire department station. For those looking to take a short drive, the Flossmoor Sculpture Gardens is a public art program that places  works of art in Flossmoor's village square. Of course Flossmoor is a charming community with a lovely downtown. You can combine a leisurely lunch with a walk through the Flossmoor Sculpture Gardens and downtown stores. The sculptures start at 2800 Flossmoor Road.Since the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park was established 30 years ago at Governors State University, the park has grown into a major collection of  27 works set within the wild prairie swales. This is more of a biking path than a walking path, but that's not a bad thing. You'll find the sculptures scattered throughout the campus, located at Governors State University, Governors Highway and University Parkway in University Park, IL.No matter which one you choose, you'll be able to explore a new aspect of our community and admire the artist's work. All three gardens are free, so why not visit them all?
