Chicago Dancing Festival Invites Community to Participate in Bolero Chicago

Palos area residents are invited to participate in Bolero Chicago at the Chicago Dancing Festival.

There's a very fun opportunity for dancers and wanna-be dancers in the Palos area to participate in the upcoming Chicago Dancing Festival 2012. And, the Beverly Arts Center is holding a public information session on July 15 at 2:00 p.m.

Bolero Chicago is an unusual and exciting project which melds professional dancers with up to 100 community members. This first ever community-based work will premiere on stage in two performances as part of the free, week-long Chicago Dancing Festival 2012, set to take place August 20–25.

Conceived and choreographed by Larry Keigwin, Artistic Director of New York-based troupe Keigwin + Company, Bolero Chicago combines three trained dancers with up to 100 non-dancer members of the community. Created over a two-week residency, Bolero Chicago will serve as a way to deepen audiences’ experience with dance, allowing participants to explore their own creativity and physicality and transform themselves into performers.

Anyone interested in learning more about the opportunity to participate in Bolero Chicago is encouraged to attend one of four community meeting. For those of us in the Palos area, the Beverly Arts Center at 2407 W. 111th Street in Chicago is the closest location. The session starts at 2:00 p.m.

Advanced RSVP is encouraged via e-mail to info@chicagodancingfestival.com and those who do will be entered for a chance to win two VIP tickets to a performance of the Chicago Dancing Festival 2012.
