Update: Lockdown Lifted at Sandburg High School

An investigation is ongoing after two males aged 17 and 18 entered the school without permission.

Sandburg High School without invitation around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday prompted a soft lockdown at the school.

A faculty member reportedly spotted one of the men entering a locker room in the south wing of the school, located at 13300 S. LaGrange Rd. The subjects fled the building, headed eastbound across LaGrange Road. Police caught the men, who were not students, off campus near 135th and Southwest Highway shortly afterward, police said.  The lockdown was lifted after a search of the building by police did not turn up anything suspicious.

There is currently no indication that the individuals made any threats against the staff, school, or students, police said.

Cook County Sheriff's bomb squad was called and assisted local authorities.

No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
