On Their Game: Chicago Christian's Chionis Sister Tennis Act

One is a freshman, the other a junior. Together, Lisa and Lexi Chionis have come to be recognized as a force to be reckoned with.

Lexi and Lisa Chionis are only two years apart in age and grade level. They are close as sisters, and now, they get a chance to be teammates at .

The sisters, who live in Palos Heights, already have participated in several U. S. Tennis programs. They have played at various tournaments around the country and keep improving in the off-season through their training work at Palos Courts.

Lexi Chionis, a junior, won her match in a dual meet against Marist on Thursday. But Lisa, a freshman, wasn't as fortunate. She lost despite a valiant comeback effort in the final set. When they play each other, however, it's about dead even.

"It's a thing of beauty to watch them play each other in practice," Chicago Christian coach Linda Hamstra said. "It really inspires the other players to do well."
