Blackhawks Marketing Director to Speak at Moraine Valley Business Awards Banquet

Peter Hassen, senior director of market development and community affairs for the Chicago Blackhawks, will be the keynote speaker at the 16th annual Business Champion Awards Banquet sponsored by the Economic Development Council for the Southwest Suburbs at Moraine Valley Community College on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Silver Lake Country Club, 14700 S. 82nd Avenue, Orland Park. Networking begins at 4:30pm, followed by dinner and the ceremony at 5:30pm.

Hassen will discuss embracing change in an ever-evolving marketplace and how change allowed the Blackhawks to reach the ultimate goal. In his sixth season with the Blackhawks, Hassen oversees market and brand development, as well as community affairs. He has been an integral part of the front office that led the charge to change the business landscape for one of the NHL's original six franchises. He has worked in the sports industry for more than 12 years serving in various capacities from the broadcast side, to running concessions, public relations and marketing.

The Business Champion Awards recognize the valuable contributions businesses and their advocates make to the economic development of Chicago's southwest suburbs. Awards will be presented in six categories: Training and Development, Sustainability, Excellence in Government, Philanthropy, Small Business and Entrepreneur, and Commitment to Diversity. The deadline to nominate a business for an award is Friday, Oct. 1. The nomination form can be found online at morainevalley.edu/wdcs.
