The Rundown: Palos Park Village Council Meeting

An explanation of everything that happened at the Aug. 23 council meeting.

The Main Story: Council members expressed their gratitude for all that Palos Bank and Trust has done for the community in its nearly 55 years of operation. The bank was shut down by the FDIC and reopened as a part of First Midwest Bank.  You can read more about what the council had to say here.

The Side Story: The Council voted 4-0 to approve a liquor license for a new store that will open at 12902 S. LaGrange Road. The 2500 square-foot Palos Liquors will open later this fall.

  • The council voted 4-0 on four payments related to the rehabilitation of the pump station and reservoir. The project is currently on time and will provide citizens with a state of the art facility, said Rick Boehm, village administrator.
  •  In a 4-0 vote the council approved of an agreement between District 118    and  the Palos Park Police Department that will allow information to be shared   between the two parties about home issues and domestic disturbances. "This allows us to contact the school and make them aware of what occurred," said Joe Miller, Palos Park police chief.

The Presentation: Citizens on Patrol Service presented a $300 check to help fund the Palos Park Cadets scholarship program. The money was raised through selling ears of corn at the Taste of Palos.

Public Hearings: The Zoning Board of Appeals has scheduled a public hearing on Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. to consider a request from the homeowners of 9333 W. 119th Street for a corner yard side setback of 14 feet to the required 50 feet. The hearing will take place at the Kaptur Administrative Center.
