The Rundown: Palos Heights Passes Balanced Budget

A look at all the action from the Palos Heights City Council meeting on Tuesday.

The Main Story: In a swift and unanimous vote the Palos Heights City Council passed a balanced budget without having to make significant cuts. The total comes in at $10,340,561, up slightly from last year.

The city's reserves will also stay at the targeted 30 percent level, City Administrator Dan Nisavic said at a committee-of-the-whole meeting last week.

Among the cost cutting options the city might look at in the coming year is a switch in health insurance providers. The city saw a rate increase of 15 percent from Blue Cross and Blue Shield last year, Nisavic said.
