Former Kozy Koffee Building Could Have New Owner
The likely new owner of the property at 9700 S. Roberts Rd. visited the Palos Hills City Council on Thursday and said plans were almost final to purchase the former Kozy HVAC building.

Old Building, New Business
The former home of Kozy Heating and Air Conditioning and also Kozy Koffee was again the subject of a city council meeting, as it was announced that plans to purchase the property could be finalized today.
Dan Greenway, owner of TempCon Temperature Control Systems, said he believes a deal to buy the property at 9700 S. Roberts Rd. is almost wrapped up, and he chatted with aldermen before the meeting.

“He seems so positive and enthusiastic and we are glad to have a new business in town, and I just want us to have the chance to welcome him,” Ald. Ricky Moore said.
Greenway says he has been renting property in Orland Park since 2001, and although business has declined a bit since the recession hit, he thinks now is the time to buy.

“Things are going very well and we've decided to take that next step and buy,” he said.
His company has been in business for over 20 years and installs commercial heating and air conditioning systems in the Chicago area.
Engery Plan
A week after a , resident Maureen Neidle spoke during public comment to inquire about the possibility of the city buying residential power in bulk to save money.
She said she had seen reports in the media about other municipalities entering into the energy contracts and was interested if Palos Hills was considering following suit.
Ald. Pauline Stratton, filling in for the absent Mayor Gerald Bennett, said she knew the mayor was interested in getting more information but was proceeding with caution.
“I think we need to proceed with caution,” Moore said. “I've heard about cities entering into the contracts and then saving just a penny or two on the dollar.”
Bennett said after the last meeting that he would be in touch with Northern Illinois Municipal Electric Collaborative (NIMEC) about rescheduling the presentation.
A referendum would also be required before the city could legally enter into any contacts on behalf of residents.
Two-flats
The council unanimously approved an ordinance that situated between 106th and 107th streets.
The properties will now be grandfathered into the R-3 zoning district. The change is necessary to allow the properties to be sold and for any construction to take place.
Committee Meeting Rescheduled
The council voted to cancel the Palos Hills Committee Meeting on Sept. 29 and reschedule it for Sept. 22.
