City Mails Survey for Feedback on Proposed Palos Heights Rec Center Renovation

Palos Heights residents should fill out the survey and return it by June 20.

If you haven't spoken up yet, now's your chance.

The City of Palos Heights has mailed a community survey asking for feedback on a proposed  $6.3 million overhaul to the Palos Heights Recreation Center.

The survey—which reached homes last week—must be returned by June 20.

The city's Parks and Recreation Committee is counting on public outreach and community meetings with consultant George K. Baum & Company, to keep residents in the loop during the planning process for the revamped recreation center at 6601 W. 127th St. A future referendum will ask residents to support the project.

Renovations would include a multipurpose/banquet room with an instructional kitchen in place of the current gym, space for a teen center, a pre-school area and multi-purpose community rooms and extra parking. The new recreation space, located adjacent to the existing building, will include a multipurpose gym, locker rooms and restrooms on the lower level. On the upper level, there would be a three-lane walking/jogging track, a wellness center with exercise equipment and a lounge.
