Worth Police Conduct Death Probe of 18-Year-Old Woman -- UPDATED
Worth Police and South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force conducting death investigation of 18-year-old Worth resident who reportedly died in an accident.
Updated, 6:44 p.m. Saturday -- An official from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the identify of an 18-year-old woman who reportedly was found fatally injured in Worth on Friday evening.
Brittany Wawrzyniak, 18, was found near 115th Street and Beloit Avenue around 8 p.m.
The medical examiner said that the cause of Wawrzyiak's death was still under investigation.
Police had no further comment on their death investigation Saturday evening. Earlier Saturday, Worth Police Chief Martin Kmolmayer issued a brief statement saying that officers were dispatched to the the 7400 block of West 115th for an accident with injuries.
Police would not specify the type of accident, only to say that they were investigating the death with the assistance of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
A relative who did not want her name used told Patch that Wawrzyniak may have been beaten to death. She said the woman was 18 and graduated from Shepard High School last June.
Family members set up a Facebook page in Wawrzyniak's memory on Saturday, urging anyone with information to contact Worth Police at 708-448-3979.
Meanwhile, friends and family were leaving messages of condolence on the "RIP Brittany Wawrzyniak" Facebook page.
Said one commenter on Facebook:
"Baby girl we miss you & love you. I dont know about other people but its still hard for me to accept the fact your gone & it will be for a while. Come visit me in my dreams tonight baby girl."

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting in the investigation.
Worth Police Chief Martin Kmolmayer issued a brief written statement:
Officers were dispatched to the 7400 block of West 115th Street for an accident with injuries at 8 p.m. Friday. An 18-year-old female suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident. The 18-year-old woman is a resident of Worth.
Police did not specify the type of accident.
An office from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy was being conducted on Saturday, but hadn't received the results.
