One of two people accused of endangering the life of a 15-year-old girl who overdosed on heroin reportedly supplied by the pair pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Nicolette Martinu, 20, pleaded to one misdemeanor count of endangering the life of a child in Cook County Judge Patrick T. Rogers' Bridgeview courtroom. She will have to serve 10 days in the Cook County Sheriff's SWAP, a manual labor program for nonviolent misdemeanors and traffic offenders, and receive six months of court supervision. She'll also have to pay $284 in court costs.
Martinu and Matthew Lefebvre, 19, were both charged after an Oct. 26 incident, where police were called at 11:30 p.m. to a home in the 11000 block of Helena Drive to help with an ambulance call for a teen who had overdosed. The teen was hospitalized but didn't die from the overdose.
The girl reportedly overdosed a second time in November and Lefebvre was arrested again. He is currently in custody on $150,000 bond. In that incident, Lefebvre and Witold Studencki, 20, of Palos Hills were charged.
Lefebvre appeared briefly in court on Tuesday. He is represented by a public defender, who told Judge Rogers that an offer has been made by prosecutors but did not release details.
Lefebvre is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 29. Martinu's court supervision will be complete on July 30 of this year.

When I was working in a small town some years ago (small town abuse of crystal meth is suprisingly high), it was a tragedy that so many really healthy and attractive young people destroyed themselves with the drug. Let's see, heroin is highly addictive and makes living a productive life impossible, it's expensive, it makes people age prematurely and become grotesquely ugly, it's illegal and most who wind up dealing end up in jail, and puts users at high risk for hepataitis, AIDS and other infections through shared needles. Most mature adults have the sense to know that starting to use H is a losing proposition, so the scumbags are pushing to kids. I hope there's a special place in Hell reserved for these vermin!
BTW, district 230 is paying a Palos Hills Cop about $80K per year at Stagg HS to protect the kids from gang influence and drug pushers. The kids see him around, but no one seems to know exactly what he's doing and parents aren't being made aware of the arrests and convictions he's been getting. Considering that we have 15 year olds ODing on H, perhaps it's time to look at whether this guy is really pulling his weight.
Notice that I also didn't say that they should be "aborted retroactively", "terminated with extreme prejudice", nor "exterminated like vermin".For that I sincerely apologize.
