Woman Attacked with Pepper Spray During Palos Heights Home Invasion

A home in Palos Heights was burglarized with the residents home.

He rang the doorbell and no one answered, but that didn't stop him.

On Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 4:48 p.m. a man wearing a dark hoodie knocked on the door and rang the doorbell of a home on the 12300 block of Pine Place in Palos Heights, police said. In the home was an elderly couple. 

The woman heard the knock and looked out of an upstairs window to see the man. Her husband was downstairs in the basement. The man then shouldered his way through the door and entered the home, police said.

He met the elderly woman as she was walking down the stairs and sprayed her in the face with pepper spray, police said. The man then went upstairs and took loose jewelry and a jewelry box from the bedroom, also according to police. 

The woman called out for her husband and the man left through the front door of the home, police said. During a canvass of the neighborhood police were told that a black Jeep Liberty left the area at a high rate of speed and blew through a stop sign.
